The Cypress is the symbol for faithfulness. Celtic lore also attributes passion, optimism and quick temperedness to this tree. An endangered species of cedar, the indigenous Berg Cypress is famous for its beautifully fragrant, disease-resistant timber. Other than furniture, the wood was also used in panelling and fence posts.
Evergreen, with a single trunk, the tree’s foliage spreads into a fairly dense crown. It has an average mature height of approximately 6m. The Berg Cypress produces either male or female cones, which are present throughout the year. Relatively fast-growing, the Berg Cypress makes for an ideal privacy screen.
